2008 BUSHMASTER REUNION COMES TO DRAWBRIDGE INN MAY 20
Fort Mitchell, KY/April 29, 2008—The 2008 Reunion of the 158th Regimental Combat Team, also known as Bushmasters, is scheduled for May 20-22 at the Drawbridge Inn.
The group served with distinction during World War II. It was initially sent to the Panama Canal Zone right after the attack on Pearl Harbor to protect the Canal. The Unit got its nickname after the deadly bushmaster snake, which was common in the area where the group was trained in jungle warfare. Later the Team was part of a large invasion force landing in Lingayen Gulf, Luzon and was ultimately chosen to spearhead the invasion of Japan. The RCT was decommissioned in January, 1946.
