MANUFACTURED HOUSING STATEWIDE GROUP IN COVINGTON
Covington, KY/July 16, 2008-Manufactured housing in Kentucky is a $330 million dollar industry. And those responsible for perpetuating its growth are meeting this week at Covington's Radisson Hotel.
More than 80 members of the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute (KMHI) are meeting through Saturday, July 19th to receive a state of the industry and learn what their operations can do to grow.
Kentucky continues to place among the top 10-12 states nationally for manufacturing home shipments. Nearly one of every five residential building permits issued in the Bluegrass comes from this industry segment.
Betty Whittaker, KMHI Assistant Executive Director, says their organization is committed to expanding the market for factory built homes by providing member support.
"We are constantly working with local, state and federal officials on financing to make sure the funds are available to our members and buyers of manufactured homes. In today's economy, financing is one of the biggest obstacles operators face."
Experts predict overall sales to improve with stabilized mortgage interest rates and improved financing for single section homes.
