Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
The Cincinnati Zoo has a lot of new
additions and special events happening this summer. Zoo
Babies are celebrating the 22nd season May 10-25
with concerts and of course the new zoo babies.
The new Giraffe Ridge
exhibit opens on June 7th and this experience is
taking fun to a new level. This 27,000 square-foot exhibit
lets visitors see the giraffes at eye level and allows guests to feed
the five young giraffes. This exhibit provides an
interactive experience, bringing guests eye-to-eye with a herd of
giraffes. The ridge was build with the environment in mind by
being green friendly. The first green component is the elevated
viewing deck, which is made entirely of composite wood (made of
recycled plastic and wood wastes). The second feature is the 2,500
square-foot green roof that will help insulate the giraffe barn and
will reduce the rate and volume of rain water going into the city's
sewer.
Another fun way to experience the zoo
for adults is, Wild about Wine. This event is a
wine tasting at the zoo on July 19 and August 21. The proceeds benefit
the zoo's Linder
Center for
Conservation & Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW). Tickets
purchased before the event are $25 and at the door $30, parking is
included in that fee.

exciting things to do at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden check

Bureau Hero
The Bureau Hero award is a chance to recognize hospitality
employees in Northern Kentucky who go
beyond the expectations of guests.
We have awarded four Bureau Heroes in the recent
months. Our first
Bureau Hero is Will Jackson
who works in the Front Office/Bell Stand Department at the Cincinnati
Marriott at RiverCenter. During the Christmas holiday the Restaurant
and Concierge Lounge was closed and a family was wondering what to do
for breakfast. Will proceeded to purchase them breakfast at McDonalds
with his own money. The family was truly thankful.
Elizabeth Nagy who works in Housekeeping at the Covington Courtyard by Marriott was
the housekeeper who
was cleaning a guest room caught on camera by Channel 9 Television
station. Out of the 4 hotels in the area Elizabeth was the only housekeeper
who "passed with flying colors" as, reported by the
Television station. We appreciate all of your hard work Elizabeth!
Mike Laverey is our third Bureau Hero and works in the Maintenance
Department at the Hampton Inn Cincinnati Airport South. During one
snowy morning, Mike personally scraped the ice and snow off the cars in
the hotel's parking lot, so that when the guests got to their cars they
had a pleasant surprise.
The final award winner is Jeremy Craft from the Cincinnati Airport Marriott. One
example of Mr. Craft's outstanding service is, after recommending a local
restaurant to a guest he went and picked up and paid for the meal for
the guest, since the restaurant would not deliver to the hotel.
These individuals truly show the meaning of what a
Bureau Hero is and how Northern Kentucky
has true hospitality. If you would like to nominate someone for Bureau
Hero, please contact Julie Brock
at jbrock@nkycvb.com.
